ELLWOOD HOUSE, 509 N. First Street, Dekalb,
Illinois, was built in 1879 by Col. I. L. Ellwood,
manufacturer of Glidden barbed wire. This wire
gave Dekalb the nickname, "The Barb City.” The
mansion contains fine furnishings and collections
of artistic and historic interest. Open to the public
at specified times.
