An unobstructed view of the Main Waiting
Room of the Union Station, Kansas City, shows
the entrance to the Grand Lobby, which in turn
leads to the Plaza upon which the Station fronts.
The Main Waiting Room was designed with com-
fort a first consideration. Filtered air, cooled in
summer and heated in winter, is constantly forced
into the room. There are no glaring electroliers
to tire the eyes of the traveler; the night illumin-
ation comes from the soft mellow rays of indirect
lighting. Seats are provided for 1,000 persons.
Electric signals and graphophone announcements
notify passengers of the departure of trains.
