The track platforms of the Union Station, Kansas
City, are on a level below the main entrance and
waiting rooms. Staircases and elevators lead from the
main station structure to the trains below. The plat-
forms provide space for sixteen passenger trains at
one time. At night with the brilliant illumination,
the shifting locomotives and the long trains of lighted
cars, the track platforms offer one of the most inter-
esting scenes about the station.
