This view of the new Union Station, Kansas
City, shows how the express, baggage and mail is
taken to and from the trains without interfering
with the convenience of the public. All heavy
baggage and express is brought directly to the
track level of the station without crossing the plaza;
which is reserved for pedestrians, motors, carriages
and street railway use. Inclined roadways lead
from the baggage, express and mail rooms to
adjacent thoroughfares. The express annex, a
portion of which is shown in the foreground, is
built of concrete and is 1,000 feet in length.
Between these buildings and the main structure
may be seen the canopy covered carriage and
motor entrance.
