The new Union Station in Kansas City fronts
a broad Plaza, with three massive arches
forming the main entrance. At night, with lights
streaming through the great portals, the station
takes on a new beauty. While the gray stone of
the exterior itself softens the facade, the
architectural features of the building are accentuated
by the lights and shadows. The arches in the
illustration are 60 feet high. The Plaza is the
property of the station company; the park beyond
belongs to the city and connects with the municipal
park and boulevard system.
