AIRPLANE VIEW FROM OAKLAND
Showing San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, Golden Gate
Bridge and Golden Gate International Exposition.
In 1939, San Francisco, Oakland and cities around the
Golden Gate invite the world to join with them in cele-
brating the completion of the world's two largest bridges,
spanning San Francisco Bay to the Eastbay, and north-
ward to the vast Redwood Empire.
In the foreground of this picture is an architectural
sketch by Chesley Bonestell of the Golden Gate Interna-
tional Exposition. Forty million dollars will go into the
staging of California's World's Fair, which will open Feb-
ruary 18, 1939, for a period of 228 days.
