Here is the first church ever built in Texas the Church of San Miguel De Socorro, erected near where El Paso now stands in 1681. It was built by refugee Spaniards and loyal Indians from the Santa Fe district in New Mexico, who had left that and when the Pueblos revolted in 1680. A replica of this building is constructed on the grounds of the Texas Centennial, 1936 World's Fair. at Dallas.
