The largest turtle of all times, lived during the
Cretaceaus Period, 70 million years ago. He was
over 12 feet in length, and unlike most of the
modern sea turtles, his back was covered with a
tough leathery hide. Archelon's life-size replica is
on display at the Prehistoric Gardens on the Oregon
Coast Highway 101.
