THE KUTAB MINAR GATE, DELHI (INDIA).
Commenced by Kutab Uddin Aibak in 1200 and com-
pleted by his successor Shamsuddin Altamash in 1220
A. D. It is 239 feet one inch in height, 47'-- 3' in
diameter, and an upward diameter of 9 feet. In con-
tains three hundred and seventy nine stairs. Engraved
in the Kufi character are carved inscriptions on ail
the stories.
