the San Marcus Pass which serves as access route from
the valley and over the coastal range to the sea.
Located just below the historic Cold Springs Tavern, it
sits at the gateway to Paradise Camp and the Santa
Ynez recreation area in this California high mountain
valley. Memories of John C. Freemont and his soldiers,
Indians and battles are all a part of this locale and
its historical past.
