DIEGO GARCIA
Two 10'' cannons were installed at Eclipse Point near
the entrance to the lagoon in 1942 to guard against
Japanese island hopping in the Indian Ocean just as
in the Pacific. The British cannons were manned by a
small Indian detachment of men under British employ.
