Additional Details:
Jacumba (Indian for hut by the water), is a resort spa, 200 yards from the Mexican border, with mineral springs and baths. Chief patrons of this resort are those who use Highway 80 between Imperial Valley and the coast and those from the valley who have homes on the mountain slopes. Jacumba was first a mail station on the old Yuma route, established by James McCoy in 1852. McCoy built a fort and at one time held off an attack of 500 Indians.
