SHADE GROWN TOBACCO
In the early season, before planting, farms pull the
shade netting over the supporting wires and irriga-
tion piping shown here. This cloth helps simulate
the climate of the Sumatra region, a humid growth
giving help to the shade grown leaves. After sea-
son the cloth is taken down, and stored, some can
be re-used, some must be discarded. Some farms
use white,' here the newer yellow cloth is being
used.
