RANCHERIA MOTOR HOTEL
This famous motor hotel is situated in
beautiful Montecito just one half mile south
of Santa Barbara.
Designed to attract a discriminating
clientele, it first won recognition by being
awarded first prize for planting and honor-
able mention on architecture by the Plans
and Planting branch of the Santa Barbara
competition, “Better Homes in America,” in
1937.
“Sunset Magazine" described the charm
bf its setting in 1938; “House Beautiful,” in
1939, gave it recognition by stating, “Just
like someone's very charming and very pri-
vate Southern California home.'
The fact that RANCHERIA was different,
the "Architectural Record” in 1940 pub-
lished the entire plan, stating that in
a district where there were many resort
hotels, RANCHERIA would compete
seriously for resort clientele. This was
followed shortly by the national publication,
"Hotel Management."
You will enjoy stopping in the quiet at-
mosphere of RANCHERIA. No less of an
authority than Duncan Hines said, in his
famous book, "Lodging for a Night": "One
of the nicest and best places in California."
Heated and cooled by forced air.
Rates are from $3.00. Phone 92422.
2 blocks from beach.
Restaurants adjoining.
Mr. and Mrs. John D. Langhorne,
