Dunstaffnage Castle
Additional Details:
Dunstaffnage Castle is picturesquely situated on a peninsular opposite the entrance to Loch Etive. For more than three centuries, commencing 300 A.D., this building was the seat of Scottish Government, and here was housed the famous Coronation stone, afterwards sent to scone. It was once a stronghold of the Lords of Lords, but is now a Crown possession. The original castle was destroyed by fire in 1715. |
