Hall of Philosophy. The historic Hall of Philos-
ophy, or "Hall in the Grove,” stands in the forest reserva-
tion called St. Paul's Grove. The original building,
modeled after the Parthenon at Athens, has been recon-
structed and made a permanent memorial to the founders
of Chautauqua. It was erected by popular subscription,
and the cost, including the balustrade and approach, was
about $20,000.
