200 GRAND STAIRCASE TO SENATE CHAMBER. The stair treads, rails and bases are of French marble. The balusters are Grecian marble, the panels on the landings and the spandrels between the arches at the side of the stairs are of Italian marble. The ovals are framed in heavily carved Kasota stone. Upon the second floor surrounding the stairwells, stand eighteen polished columosof Italian marble of light greenish gray with mottled spots on a large scale.
