Ten years ago there were four motor
boats in the city. To-day, 450 motor
boats, 115 houseboats, 300 canoes,
thousands of row boats, and a dozen sail
boats ply Kansas City's three rivers,
and it is estimated that $400,000 is in-
vested in various kinds of pleasure
water-craft in the city.
Kansas City is built upon an almost
square tract of land with rivers upon
three of its sides. The Kaw flows along
its western border, the Blue flows
through the eastern border, and the
northern side of the square is the
Missouri River.
