Dryburgh Abbey is beautifully situated beside the river Tweed. It was founded about 1150 and destroyed during the English and Scottish wars in 1514. It is best known as the buried place of sir Walter Scott whose tomb it in St. Mary's Aisle, the burying place of his mothers family.
