CARTE POSTALE.
Rochester Cathedral from the North. Here, in a
quiet meadow, starred with white and yellow flowers, one
gets a good view of the ground plan of the Cathedral,
which has the shape of a double cross. The present
Cathedral is the fourth in order from the founder of the
See, Justus, a follower of Augustine, and in this, its
northern portion, may be seen the ruins of one of the towers
of the second church, built by Gundulf in 1087.
