United States Pavilion, EXPO 86, Vancouver, B.C.
The centerpiece of the U.S. Pavilion is a large scale model of the Space Station that the United States plans
to put into orbit in the 1990s. The station will be permanently manned, with crews and supplies transported
by the Space Shuttle. The station will permit on-going scientific and technical work in a gravity-free environ-
ment. This weightless environment will make possible the production of such products as large crystals for
smaller, more powerful computers and extremely pure pharmaceuticals for the treatment of human disease.
