Blarney Castle, of which now little remains but the square donjon tower, 120 feet high, and a les substantial and lower ruin, was erected during the fifteenth century, and was the stronghold of the MacCarthy's. the celebrated Blarney stone, which is popularly supposed to impart persuasive powers to anyone who shall kiss it, is found at the top of the tower in a somewhat awkward position below the parapet. |
