MEMORIAL ARCH, WHAKAREWAREWA, ROTORUA
Rotorua is one of the larger Maori centres in New
Zealand today. It was settled in ancient times by
the powerful Arawa Tribes. This archway is
memorial to the men of the famous Maori Baftahon
which fought with such distinction in the Middle
East and Italy in World War II. The Qeeds of its y
soldiers matched in valour those of the legendary
warriors who hold an honoured place in the tribal
histories of the Maori people.
