COAL CREEK STATION power plant near Underwood, N.D. has a
generating capacity of 1,100 megawatts and is one of the world's largest
lignite coal-fired plants. It is operated by Cooperative Power and jointly
owned with United Power Association, both of Minnesota, and
consumes nearly 1,000 tons of coal per hour.
