Where the Fox River flows under the bridge
Geneva, Illinois
Built in 1842, our thick-walled Stone Room was the Village
Blacksmith Shop of the settlement called Herrington's Ford,
shortly to become Geneva. Across the road the Bennett Mili
was built to grind the farmers' grain while they had their
horses shod and wagons mended. The mill race is that part
of the river diverted to turn the mill-wheel to provide power
for milling. So our Inn was named when the old building be-
came the present MILL RACE INN over 45 years ago and the
mill race was still fast-flowing between us and Island Park.
Fires still burn in the old blacksmith shop, providing our
famous traditional midwestern fare and refreshment, served
with pride and graciousness by our family since 1945.
And on the river's edge our screened Ä AZEBO and open
deck provide unique serenity where you can lift your spirits.
