Since 1959, the first Saturday in June is reserved
for the ESSEX ROTARY CLUB'S ANNUAL ALL
YOU CAN EAT SHAD BAKE. Now serving up to
1700 people, the Club serves the best Connecti-
cut River Shad, filleted, nailed to oak planks,
seasoned with a secret blend and cooked around
open fires. The entertainment has included fife
and drum corps and square dancing. The
President says “It's a neat affair” ... that's an
understatement.
