John Cobb, the English Sportsman, thrilled millions when he sent
his 2600-horsepower Railton Red Lion roaring over the Bonneville Salt
Flats of Utah at 368.85 miles per hour ... the fastest man had ever driven.
Three years were spent in designing, building and preparing Cobb's
$100,000 car for this history-making run. Of all the motor oils available
in the world, Cobb chose regular stock Gilmore Lion Head to protect his
two 12-cylinder motors when they built up searing heat at better than a
six-miles-a-minute pace. American Automobile Association Contest Board
officials certify that this Lion Head is identical to the motor oil sold by
Gilmore Independent Dealers.
