The Church of San Miguel was built soon
after the town of Sante Fe was founded by
Spaniards in 1605. It was partly demolished
by the natives in 1680, rehabilitated in 1710,
and since further repaired into a resumption
of its original appearance. It contains a very
ancient copper bell, formerly in the turret,
in which the date of 1530 is cast.
Santa Fe has a population of about 6000,
and lies at an altitude of 7019 feet.
