The dominant figures stand for Alaska, Yukon and the
Pacific. The Shell, laden with gold from Alaska and the
Yukon, the fruit and flowers from the Pacific states, re-
presents the shipping interests. The Salmon portray the
fishing industries. The Totem Poles stand for a by-gone
age giving place to a new creation indicated by the out-
lines in the background of the Exposition Buildings of
1909, dimly seen in their new glory.
The original painting will be on exhibition in its own
building on the grounds.
