CENTRAL AVENUE LOOKING NORTH.
Central Avenue, the main thoroughfare of the city, lies in a
narrow gorge between Hot Springs Mountain and West Mountain.
It runs north and south, is 1,000 feet above the sea level; east
of it is a long line of hotels and stores, while on the west side
are scores of bath houses, many of them handsome and costly
structures.
