THE HAMMOND MUSEUM
Gloucester, Mass.
The magnificent pipe organ of the Hammond Museum
was designed by the late John Hays Hammond Jr.,
and has over 10,000 pipes, four manuals, a floating
baroque manual and 144 stops. The guilded wood
carving surrounding the organ console is 15th century
German Gothic and once stood around the console of
the organ of the Marienkirche in Lubeck where Buxtehude
was organist, and his friend, Bach, often visited
him there.
