USS MASSACHUSETTS FALL RIVER, MASSACHUSETTS Awed by the huge 2,700 lb. projectile on display beneath the 16-inch guns of the Battleship MASSA- CHUSETTS at Battleship Cove, Fall River, are these two youngsters. Largest of our Navy's World War Il weapons, the 16-inch gun fired these shells at targets over 23-miles away throughout the war at North Africa, the Pacific Islands and the Japanese mainland.
