earlier), it first served as a tavern by Patrick
Connelly. The hill on which it stands is known
as Ellicott's Hill, named in honor of the noted
Major Andrew Ellicott who first raised the Amer.

1797. Legend: "Treasure is supposed to be
buried beneath the house, and the floors of the
lower rooms have often been found dug up.”
