Additional Details:
In a seven-acre park enclosure at Liberty and Washington Streets in downtown Newburgh, stands one of the nation's most revered historic structures - Washington's Headquarters. The old greystone dwelling with rambling roof, also known as the Hasbrouck House, incorporating sections built between 1725 and 1770, is the scene of Washington's final encampment and longest stay while Commander-in-Chief of the American forces during the Revolutionary period. He and Mrs. Washington, with staff members, lived there from April 1, 1782 to August 19, 1783 when he announced the cessation of hostilities.
