“Goldie,” Proctor's uniquely restored 1931 Wurlitzer
theatre organ, is literally an entire orchestra with strings,
percussion, woodwinds, brass and a grand piano. Made of
1,290 different pipes, “Goldie” was used to enhance the scene
and set the mood for silent movies by duplicating the sounds of
trains, boat whistles, sirens and car crashes, as well as
simulate the songs of birds, the crash of waves against the
shore and the thunder of horses hooves.
