GRAVES OF THE MARTYRS
Joseph and Hyrum Smith were slain
by a mob at Carthage, Illinois, June
27, 1844. Buried secretly to protect
the bodies, and were re-interred on
property owned and maintained by
the Reorganized Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints. Emma,
the only wife of Joseph Smith, is in-
terred by her husband.
