Philately, or stamp collecting, has grown to major pro-
portions in the relatively short time since the world's first
years ago. Today, over sixteen million philatelists around
the world enjoy this fascinating hobby. And it is a ver-
satile pastime, for the choices a stamp collector has are
virtually unlimited. A collector may choose to collect
single stamps, pairs, blocks, Plate Number Blocks; First
Day Covers or Mint stamps; cancelled stamps or uncan-
celed stamps; sheet stamps, coil stamps booklet
stamps ... the list goes on and on. To celebrate stamp
collecting and to bring together philatelists from around
the world, the United States will sponsor Ameripex ’86
an International Philatelic Exhibition to be held in
Chicago, Illinois from May 22 to June 1, 1986. Ameripex
'86 is expected to be the largest stamp show ever held
in North America. In anticipation of this important event,
the United States Postal Service issued the distinctive
