People in America travel far and wide on vacations, off to
college, seeking employment, sharing holidays, visiting
friends, conducting business, planning retirements, and
sometimes just in search of themselves. But as they enjoy
the excitement of the destination that lies ahead, they also
experience sadness over the people they leave behind.
Good friends, close relatives, neighbors, and acquain-
tances are seldom forgotten and, occasionally a memory
of them darts across the mind. On these occasions, many
will jot down a note, write a letter, or buy a pleasant card
to share the thought with someone far away. The memo-
ries we share help keep America's mobile society ce-
mented with friendship and care. Thus, the United States
Postal Service chose the thoughtful phrase — “Thinking
of You" — as the theme for a very appropriate stamp in its
1988 Special Occasions Booklet. The 25¢, first-class
"Thinking of You" issue featured on this Maximum Card
is a lovely way to share a memory and make someone's
day very special.
