GET WELL!
First Day of Issue: April 20, 1987
First Issue Location: Atlanta, Georgia
When we don't feel well, daily cares and ordinary wor-
ries suddenly seem unimportant. It seems the only thing
that really matters is feeling better. When illness sets in,
nothing can help more than the warm sentiments of
family and friends who express their concern and care.
Sometimes a gift or a visit will offer cheer and comfort
to those we love the most. But, when separated by miles
or other circumstances, often the best way to reach sick
friends or“relatives is through the mail. And, in such
cases, even the envelope can convey the message we
seek to share. In response to this need and in a very
human gesture, the U.S. Postal Service issued the stamp
featured on this Maximum Card. The “Get Well!" stamp
is part of this 1987 Messages Booklet. The stamp bears
a cheerful arrangement of colorful flowers, com-
plemented by the simple "Get Well!” message. Thus,
this particular stamp was unveiled, appropriately, at the
seventy-fifth anniversary meeting of the Florists' Trans-
world Delivery Association.
