THE GENERAL HERKIMER HOME

This attractive colonial home overlooking the Mohawk
Valley was built in 1764. It was from here that General
Herkimer left to fight the battle of Oriskany in which
he received a fatal wound. His victory in this battle
assured him a place in the annals of American heroes.
His home, restored by The State of New York is open
to the public.
