The old headquarters of Judge Roy
Bean "Law West of the Pecos" pre-
served by the State of Texas as one of
the historic landmarks of West Texas. This old law court, saloon and
billiard hall is located at Langtry (named for the famous actress Lilly
Langtry) 61 miles West of Del Rio. Cattle rustlers, horse thieves and
outlaws were tried here by Judge Bean, the only peace officer West of
the Pecos River at that time.
