Ellis Hospital first opened its doors on Christmas morning in
1885 as a free dispensary with a 5-bed surgical ward. Today,
it is a full-service, 478-bed general hospital.
The Clinical Services Building was dedicated in 1978. Its 320
rooms and nearly 200,000 square feet house 17 of the Hospi-
tal's major departments.
