EDISON NATIONAL MONUMENT
West Orange, New Jersey
Reconstruction of the "Black Maria," first motion picture
studio in the world. Thomas A. Edison's original studio was
erected a short distance from this site in 1893, so designed
that its roof could be opened and the whole building turned
to provide direct sunlight on the stage. Here visitors may
see motion pictures dealing with the great inventor's life
and achievements.
