The memorial will be across the plaza directly south
of Union Station. The shaft, at the entrance, will be
280 feet high, including a base, and the top will be 342
feet above the water line of the Missouri river. It will
be the highest point in Kansas City. Cost $2,000,000,
raised by popular subscription.
