Ford Motor Company is the greatest of Detroit's
giant automobile industries. The Ford Company
operates the Highland Park Plant, Fordson Plant,
Dearborn Plant, and Lincoln Motor Car Division
in Detroit. The Ford Company operates thirty-two
assembly plants in strategic trade centers of the
United States and also numerous foreign branches
and plants. The Ford Company furnishes employ-
ment to approximately 175,000 men in the United
States and Canada and 8,000 abroad. The Fordson
plant covers 1,100 acres and includes coke ovens,
blast furnaces, a steel plant with rolling mill and
open hearth furnaces, cement plant, glass factory.
paper mill, tractor factories, machine and assembling
shops, etc. About 75,000 men
men are employed at
the Fordson Plant. The Lincoln Motor Car Company's
division is located at West Warren and Livernois
Avenues and is one of Detroit's finest automotive
plants.
