MOBILE, ALABAMA
Located on Mobile Bay, this city delightfully blends the old
with the new, and many buildings set among the modern struc-
tures date from the eighteenth century. Fine residences in set-
tings of rare trees and flowers, streets shaded by century-old
giant oaks, "frozen lace" or wrought iron decorations on near-
ly every home in the older sections all add to the charm of
Mobile. The mild climate and many opportunities for sport make
Mobile a popular winter resort. There is excellent salt and fresh
water fishing. Some points of interest are: Bellingrath Gardens,
a year-'round spectacle of beautiful flowers in a setting of gi-
ant live oaks, draped with Spanish Moss, Azalea Trail from Feb-
ruary to April, Bienville Square, State Docks, Cathedral of The
Immaculate Conception, Old Church Street Graveyard, Black-
sher's Garden, Murals in Waterman Building, and Avenue of
Oaks.
