Founded in 1870, Silver City suffered during the
first years of its settlement. Cattle at its outskirts
were herded into the hills and killed. Along roads
in every direction Indians lay in ambush for any
person who ventured about. Today, Grant County,
of which Silver City is the County Seat, is aptly
known as "The Treasure Vault of New Mexico".
See Silver City and you'll see beauty unsurpassed
Located on that famous wonderland "The Black
Range."
