"OLD BLACK BRIDGE"
Frankenmuth, Michigan
The "Old Black Bridge", as Frankenmuthers refer
to it, is located on Dehmel Road, one mile west of
downtown Frankenmuth. Bridge spans Cass River,
named after former territorial Governor of Michi-
gan, Lewis Cass. This steel construction creates
nostalgic foreground to St. Lorenz Lutheran
Church. Church was named after home churches
of founding fathers - St. Laurentius in Neuendet-
telsau and Rosstal and St. Lorenz in Nuernberg.
Winter visitors find route over the "Old Black
Bridge" a venture into yesteryear.
