The Cass River, named after former territorial
Governor of Michigan, Lewis Cass, flows past
Carling Brewery. Original Brewery established here
was Frankenmuth Brewing Company, founded in
1899. Plant was purchased by Carling Brewing
Company in 1956. This is largest Brewing Corpora-
tion in World, brewing 27 different brands of beer
throughout World. In United States, Carlings has
five breweries. Dam originally constructed of rock,
oak slabs, and earth in summer of 1847 by
Hubinger Brothers.
