THE SUSPENDED BOULDER
THE FLUME
FRANCONIA NOTCH,
WHITE MTS., N. H.
At the time of the ice
sheet, about 25.000 years
ago, an enormous boulder,
weighing many tons, was
brought down from the
mountains above and
rested over the top of the
gorge at a point indicated
by a small sign. This
boulder was carried away
in the great flood of
June 1883.
